One such heartwarming initiative is LASAGNA LOVE, a movement spreading love and comfort through the simple act of sharing a meal. Born out of compassion and a desire to support others, Lasagna Love has quickly become a community symbol of unity and care.
The concept behind Lasagna Love is beautifully straightforward: volunteers cook and deliver homemade lasagnas to individuals and families who could use a little extra support. Whether it’s a new mother adjusting to parenthood, a frontline worker needing a warm meal after a long shift, or anyone facing challenging circumstances, Lasagna Love provides not only sustenance, but also a reminder that someone cares. No questions are asked. No requirements need to be met. Someone in need receives a lasagna.
The movement began in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic when founder Rhiannon Menn noticed the growing need for assistance among her neighbors and friends. She recognized that the act of preparing and sharing a meal is not only a practical way to help, but also a deeply emotional gesture that can uplift spirits during trying times. What started as a small endeavor quickly gained momentum as word spread through social media and word of mouth.
For recipients, a Lasagna Love delivery goes beyond the nutritional value of a hearty meal. It sends a powerful message of solidarity and compassion. In a time when physical isolation has become the norm, this gesture reminds individuals that they are not alone and that their community cares about their well-being. It’s a reminder that amidst life’s challenges, there are still moments of warmth and connection to be found.

Laurie Wagner is the Local Leader for the Northwest Region in NJ (Warren, Sussex, and Morris Counties). She ensures that 45-60 families weekly receive a homemade lasagna delivered by a volunteer in their community. Wagner posts monthly in over 300 local Facebook Groups to spread the word about the opportunity for those in need to receive a lasagna, and about the opportunity for those in a position to give to become volunteers.
